SimpleRead is a Chrome Extension designed to simplify hard-to-read web text into plain English, directly on the page you are reading. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
All text processing happens entirely on your device using Chrome’s built-in on-device AI (Gemini Nano). No text you select or simplify is ever sent to any server.
We do not collect, store, transmit, or share your browsing activity or the content of any pages you visit. Your browsing data never leaves your browser.
SimpleRead offers optional paid features. All payments are processed by Polar (Polar Software Inc.) and their payment partner, Stripe. When you make a purchase, Polar collects personal data necessary to process your transaction, including your name, email address, billing address, and payment card details.
We do not receive or store your payment card information. The personal data collected during checkout is governed by Polar’s and Stripe’s respective privacy policies, not this one.
When you validate your licence key, SimpleRead sends the key to Polar’s API solely to confirm it is valid. We do not store or process any personal data returned in that response.
If you are located in the EU or UK, please note that any personal data collected during payment is processed by Polar as a separate, independent data controller. Your rights under the GDPR (including access, rectification, erasure, and portability) with respect to that payment data should be directed to Polar at privacy@polar.sh. For any other privacy enquiries about SimpleRead, please contact us directly (see below).
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the extension after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
